Thom is a Chartered Power Systems Engineer with 15 years of experience in the GB high-voltage electricity industry. He has predominantly served National Grid Electricity Transmission, initially as an employee and more recently as a consultant via his consultancy, EfficientGrids. His analysis has underpinned investment decisions for several billion pounds’ worth of grid infrastructure across England and Wales.

Thom has delivered hundreds of customer connection offers, applying deep technical knowledge and regulatory insight to ensure efficient, compliant, and future-ready solutions. His expertise spans system design, network planning, SQSS compliance, and stakeholder engagement.

Thom is passionate about solving complex engineering challenge – particularly those that support the transition to a low-carbon, sustainable energy system.
